Re: Driving in ice and snow
Saw some interesting behaviour from my Mégane today driving down a fairly steep (about 10%) hill in snowy conditions. Normally I get a good regen percentage down there adding a few miles onto the range (the ones that came off going up) but today the power meter stuck at zero all the way down. My gu...

Letter from DVLA about road tax
Anyone else get a letter about EVs no longer being zero rated for road tax? When did that happen?! Was a surprise to me having to pay £190/year from April next year. I knew it was coming but not heard anyone reporting on it. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vehicle-tax-for-electric-and-low-emissions-vehi...

Re: Home, home on the range...
Kind of, but not exactly. All EVs (including the Megane) have a battery capacity buffer that is entirely unusable. This is to maintain the health of the battery, so 100% useable is 60kWh, but the net capacity is somewhere around 65-66kWh - not sure on the exact, but I saw it in the spec sheet a long...

Re: Leaving car for 3 months unattended
You're probably fine to be honest at 70%. As far as I'm aware the 12v will charge off the main battery

Re: Octopus Intelligent Go now available for the Megane
I am using agile for over year now, average price is 12p with always peaking to 35-40p 16:00-18:00 with overnight dropping to around 7-10p https://agile.octopushome.net/dashboard , change your area to compare pricing Works for me more as multiple times there are pricing below 0 where they pay you f...

Re: Octopus Intelligent Go now available for the Megane
Ah that is for the charger not the car, previously the car had been compatible. Very strange... If you sign up to the updates, that's how I got the notification of the beta. It might be that they're only doing it by invitation now while they sort out the issues. I have to say, it is a very strange ...

Re: Teenager/NewDriver mode. Is there such a thing ?
Eco mode sounds perfect. It greatly reduces the throttle response so it gains speed much more gently. And it's limited to 70mph (or so)

Re: Octopus Intelligent Go now available for the Megane
Gave up on Octopus a couple of months ago. They made a complete arse of my solar export setup, incorrectly charged me £400 then ignored all my attempts to get them to correct it until I left a bad review on Trust pilot. It was then fixed the same day. Don't believe the marketing hype. That's a sham...

Octopus Intelligent Go now available for the Megane
I just got an email to say that the Megane is now compatible with the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff. It's in beta, and the steps look a little strange, but it is compatible with any home charger. It's 7p/kWh from 11:30-5:30 and then they also notify you of any "surge" pricing during the da...
