Re: State of Charge in Renault App
I've noticed when the state of charge gets stale like this then I can't enable preconditioning or change schedules or basically do anything from the app. I spoke to Renault support via their WhatsApp chat and they identified a connectivity fault with my car. It's booked into the local dealer at the ...

Re: Driving in ice and snow
An EV shouldn't be any different from any other car in adverse weather. Avoid harsh acceleration and braking, so eco mode and lower levels of regen make sense. Allow longer stopping distances so if using the cruise control set the following distance to max. Dropping your tyre pressures a bit will im...

Re: Preconditioning via app
They said it was an issue with the car that can't be fixed remotely. Either a hardware fault or a firmware update that needs physical access I imagine.
Booked for repair on 30 December.

Re: Bike rack for the Megane
Efficiency will be terrible with bikes on the roof of course. My old XC40 used to do 28mpg dragging a pair of mountain bikes through the air.

Re: Bike rack for the Megane
I have Thule roof bars and bike carriers which I used on previous cars. There is a fitting kit for the Mégane which I bought but I've admittedly never used as we carry bikes on the camper van mainly.

Re: Preconditioning via app
I heard back from Renault support today. They have identified a connectivity issue with my car and want me to bring it to a dealer to be resolved.

Re: Preconditioning via app
What I've found works is going out to the car and pushing the power button without the brake pedal (a sort of ignition-on mode) then waiting for it to connect to the network, e.g. by going to the update page and waiting for Check for Update to become available. The API then indicates the data is fre...

Re: Preconditioning via app
It's an issue with the Renault server. I use https://github.com/hacf-fr/renault-api to control my charging to make the best use of my solar panels, and I added an Alexa skill so I can say Alexa, tell my car to start heating. This last bit hasn't worked since last winter.

Re: Long journey
Yes that's true. Half an hour before we wanted to stop I'd look for a motorway sign telling me where was 30-odd miles away and say "hey Google add a charging stop near X", which worked well.

Re: Long journey
Yeah, eco mode for motorway driving is asking for frustration. Comfort works well, Sport mode if you're late for band practice (I only did this once!) I found planning charging stops via software pretty unhelpful, tbh. We just drove until WE needed to stop and charged the car while we stretched our ...
