Having sat by the side of the road waiting on recovery I thought having 70% battery would at least keep us warm.
Nice idea except the car only stays on for a few minutes then shuts down so to keep the heating on you have to keep pressing the power on button every few minutes.
Be nice if you could force it to stay on.

I think this is a standard thing. My wife's C-HR does similar. After about 10 minutes on the battery (engine off) it just shuts down.

I can see why but it would be neat if you could over ride it.
In the Mégane it wasn't 10 mins I think 5 maybe less.

This may work for you..

Megane MAY also has a continuous current mode that Renault creatively calls “ignition plus”. The “ignition” is not deactivated after 5 (?) minutes as is otherwise the case.

To activate the following sequence:
Press the start button without standing on the brake
Selector lever to N (you may have to tap the brake briefly to do this)
Long press start without standing on the brake

This worked for me when I needed an A/C while waiting on a charger on a very hot day:

- open the door and close it so that the infotainment lights up
- push the `AUTO` button, which will activate A/C (either heating or cooling)
- now you can sit in your car and enjoy the A/C until you open the door again
- it worked for me continuously for more than 60 minutes (I was stuck on a slow charger because Ionity had a power outage and I was on a trip so I plugged into some random 30 kW charger in a shopping center nearby)
