Hello all,
I'm the new owner of a second hand E-Techn EV60, 220 cv, Optimum charge, Techno.
I've used the vehicule for a month now, mostly for short trips.
Passed my initial "wow" factor, I'm increasingly worried and dissatisfied about several things.
I'm hoping existing users can shed light on what is normal or not, what they also experience or not.
> Estimated range seems very low. I've been using the car between 10% and 70% charge. If I extrapolate the estimated range from the computer, I get 300km (it's a 60 kWh battery).
I did not do any highway trip, it's all city trips and roads. Not too much traffic.
Admittedly, I've made short trips and it's winter, so heating up the car could play a factor. But I'm still surprised to have a range almost as bad as if I were driving on a highway...
Are those estimates normal when doing short trips (15 km trips) in cold whether.
> Vibrations at 110 - 130 km/h.
I drove a few km at highway speed and was surprised how the car suddenly starts vibrating at higher speed. The driving wheel also vibrates but it seems to be a general vibration, like it's coming from aerodynamic issues rather that powertrain issues;.. Again : does it sound familiar to you ?
> There is sometimes a strong humidity smell from ventilation if AC is off.
> I'm facing various electronic issues.
An update : 'Connectivity 1.1.0", failed repeatedly (I've seem it in the update history. The update is not available when I try and force-update).
Also the "mobile network" menu, for some reasons, is greyed out. Even though I do have Internet (6 month Google Play Internet). I don't even understand what this menu is supposed to be about.
Since today, the seat heater no longer works. The button turns off a few seconds after I turn it on.
My early experience is really degraded because of all these issues.
I've made an appointment at Renault service but I know that getting someone really competent and fluent on those questions and issues can be difficult.
Hoping to get some guidance here.
Thanks
New owner facing multiples issues
Winter range can be surprisingly low. Short trips, heating the car from cold each time is a big drain on the battery. Preconditioning with the car plugged in can help but if you get cheap charging at night doesn't make much economic sense. Use it if you need the range for a longer trip. The good news is I've found the range estimate to be fairly accurate in all seasons.
Vibration and strange smells are definitely problems. My 73 plate techno+ has none of those.
The heated seats can turn themselves off if nobody is sitting in them. Maybe a sensor issue?
Do you have an Orange subscription for mobile internet? It's £6 a month for the basic package. I think the site for signing up and managing it is https://internetonthemove.orange-business.com/renault/

For the vibration issue get the wheels checked for tyre balance, if they're not properly balanced you can get vibrations through the steering at various speeds, usually as speed increases. This is not unique to EVs.
For strange smells, check the front carpets aren't wet, some early cars had issues with leaks from the front screen. This may also be related to the smell from the heater without air con, though you can also get odd smells from the heater if you have used air con and then switch it off. In which case the smell should eventually clear, also check whether the air con has been serviced - usually just a filter change and refresh.

Hi mika93,
All seems to be answered very well here.
Deffo get it looked at for the smell and vibrations.
Range depends on driving style, as well as distance.
The Megane is supposedly pretty efficient on long cold journeys because it uses heat generated by the motor to warm the cabin.
That being said, on my last journey on the motorway I averaged 3.6miles/kW which would give me a theoretical range of 216miles or about 350km.
That’s alright, but I have to tell you I didn’t go any faster than 60mph
