I've been pondering this for a while now and have come up with the following list of features that put together, make an EV cool, and without them then obviously missing the target and just sort of Meh.
top of the list a full rear light bar, maybe broken only by the logo - if an EV doesn't have rear light bar remove it from your shortlist immediately!
next, automatic unlocking where the flush door handles pop out to on your approach without you having to press any buttons anywhere (sound familiar?)
then, puddle lights that swing out from the door mirrors and illuminate the ground in the darkness with the logo of the car! Woohoo! Yes!
chic styling I think is a rather important ingredient to coolness. No harsh angles or weird wedge shapes either.
fast charging is essential
massive wheels that fill the arches
then, the little things that on paper only get a cursory mention...
quietness
handling
responsiveness
Smooooth power deliver from any possible speed you might be doing
Comfy ride
google maps
wipers that just work (if you've had a car with auto-wipers that don't work right when you just need them too you'll know what I mean)
auto-dipping lights that work (see above for wipers)
The reason for this list is that I was recently driving in the pitch black, in the rain, on roads I'd never driven on, far from home, and the Megane felt as safe and surefooted a car as I've ever had...and it got me home in one piece.
Only my VW Scirocco from the 1990s comes close to how this car drives.
I'm so impressed that I've bought it a private plate. I'm sure that makes it cooler, right?
