Randomly opening charge flap

So I turned up at a public charger on Friday and the flap was ajar. Didn’t think much of it, until today. Flap was definitely closed this morning and on arriving home from walking the dog, saw that the flap was ajar again.

Anyone else have this issue?

I’ve also noticed that it will only close properly if the car is locked. If the car is unlocked it will not engage the lock (the little locking spindle will occasionally change to “closed” position, but the flap refuses to stay shut unless I lock the car.

Rather concerned that it’ll end up randomly opening when I’m driving. Wanted some views on it before I contact the dealership, in case someone knows of a solution.

Not had that but definitely sounds like a fault.

I suspect the lock is working but the latch has failed. So when locked it's secure but when unlocked the latch isn't holding it.

Yep mine does the same I've found that after I've driven the car, the charge flap pops open after a charge even though I ensure that I closed it fully.

Sounds like a dealer visit is on the cards. Seen it mentioned on a FB group as well.

My charging flap won't release. Anyone know of a fix so I can put some charge in it as service centres are all shut until monday...

Started experiencing the same issue where the charging flap opens up whilst driving after appearing closed. One for a dealer visit - but have noticed there's a slightly different feel when closing the flap when the locking catch hasn't fully engaged. It's less "smooth". If in doubt I lock and unlock the car after closing the flap which will cause it to open if not properly seated. Waiting for my alarm fitting recall, and outcome of the zappi saga - so hoping to get all the gremlins sorted in one

Picked up my second Megane on Saturday. I noticed the charge flap is not as secure as my older one. The whole port assembly seems to be slightly lower down with a small gap at the top. Have tried to see if it clicks in place higher but no luck. Will probably have to take it back to be looked at.

If they've changed the assembly it would suggest Renault know there's an issue - but worrying if it's going in the wrong direction! Either that or poor quality control. Hope it gets sorted!
