After completely turning off regen from hand paddles the car runs freely without any negligable amount of regen. But when you put your foot on the brake pedal approx. 20% of stroke only applies regen after that region friction brakes show their effect in addition to already applied full regen. I'd like to totally disable any regen braking to perform brake burnishing to my new brake pads.
I think the general recommendation is to find a quiet bit of road where you can do 5 or 6 rapid stops from 50-60mph. Emergency stops if you want but you don't want the ABS to kick in. That should engage the friction brakes enough.
