Hi All,

I accidentally charged the Megane up to 100% last night so I went off on an early morning drive to get the SOC down a bit.

0oC on the way out and 3oC on the way back.

Eco mode all the way. pre-warmed the cabin before setting off. Heated seat, and steering wheel both switched off. No passengers. Empty boot.

Country A and B roads with all sorts of speed limits from 20mph, 30mph, 40mph and 60mph (no stretches of motorway), good mixture of hills and flats.

Same route back on the return journey.

Result: 3.7miles per kWh Don't believe the 80.7miles because, as discovered on a previous post my Megane still reports in km so miles travelled were actually 50.1

This is a theoretical range from 100% to dead (as if anyone would ever do this) of around 222miles.

That's a perfectly acceptable efficiency for the Megane and actually rather marvellous!

In conclusion: Very Efficient, Very Cool Car!

That's very good for those temperatures. I tend to see around 3.2 miles per kwh at this time of year. Still love the car - but I see a massive drop off from summer temps as my range goes from 170-180 miles in winter over mixed driving to 240-250 in summer. Does your car have a heat pump ?

Hi ArtyBee,
Heat pump - yes!
I think these are becoming essential, and I think Renault are finding this out.

3.2 m/kWh is rather good though isn't it, and equates to around 190miles max range, right?

To be fair, I don't think the Megane was ever built for massive road trips day in, day out.
But at these efficiencies it appears to be fairly well targeted at most drivers, I think.

Thanks for confirming and I agree that the heat pump should be included. Unfortunately I pre-ordered at launch expecting the heat pump to be part of the UK spec , but it wasn't available at that time. The dealer passed it off as deemed not necessary for the UK - but I indicated my annoyance with a casual expletive and said it was clearly down to building to a cost. That said , I proceeded to purchase and have absolutely no regrets. 3.2 average isn't bad for winter but just not a patch on the 4.3 I saw from the Hyundai that proceeded it - but driving the Megane more than compensates for that! Sounds like you have the best of both worlds. Enjoy!
