Going back to efficiency, mine's a MY24 with heat pump too, and I tend to drive between 60 and 70mph on the motorway. You've probably overtaken me!!😆
Is yours white on white? In that case I think I actually do overtake you quite often. 😁
Waiting for my megane e tech to be delivered hopefully soon.
Hi p50kombi,
Hmm, that must be another Megane driver hyper-miling it down the motorway! 😂

Mine's midnight blue.👍

Hi SomersetBob,
Yep, that's exactly the info I've just read.👍

Hmm, some odd decisions here with Renault. Even the ZOE has 22kW AC charging, and that's very long in the tooth.
What's the betting they change their minds later on and include 22kW AC, but keep the the V2L plastic adapter as an accessory?

On mine they didn't even include a 3pin granny cable and I had to buy it separately (comes in useful when renting a holiday cottage).

I DO like the blue carpets in the Esprit Alpine! AND the lovely seats!

Milkman wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 12:27 am Thanks Thermal runaway, posts like these give a very objective view to us all. It's exactly what I had hoped. I too think overall that it's a pretty good car. The 22kw ac charging is extremely handy as these older chargers are less busy these days and offer a decent top up in a short stop which other cars can't do. I find the car a bit unstable when really pushed but in normal driving is rock solid. I'm inclined to think that I'm wrong about the efficiency as it seems like you many feel it's quite good. I have a heat pump even though she's the MY23. It's probably just the winter thing that makes it seem worse. If it had a slightly bigger battery, it would be ideal. The Kia story is interesting, I'm surprised as most things I heard were positive but software seems to be a big issue for them. I suppose you heard the new refresh announcement has a new bi-directional 11kw ac fitted, not the 22kw. You can opt for the 22kw at a cost but lose the V2L and possible V2G capability.
Thanks for your response, a lot to think about.
I'm not sure I'd buy a new car without checking the forums now, and ignore what the motoring journalists say.
I see that the Kia forums are filled with annoyances, bugs and faults - and waiting for software updates to activate abilities that ought to be there but aren't.

Also, top of the list for me is, can the car accept OTA updates.
Having said that, the Megane seems to have the software pretty much sorted anyway.

30 mile trip in the Mini Cooper E this morning. Dry roads at 2°C and definitely not trying to be efficient, it's a fun car to drive. Averaged 4.0mpkWh. What are Renault doing wrong?

To be fair, efficiency isn't everything and the range of the Mégane in cold weather has only once caused an extra charging stop. But it's interesting to compare.

Hi neilgall,
That’s very good efficiency from that mini.
Those new mini’s look nice and modern.
Do you remember if the AC was turned on or off?
Tell you why; I drove the Megane in Sport mode into town and back, and had quite an exciting drive…got 4.0m/kWh
BUT I had the AC off, and that made a huge difference😁
Love the 20” wheels👏👏

I think in both cars the AC will turn itself off when not needed. I tend to drive my Mégane with the fan on 1 and AC off unless it mists up on a wet day. Don't get enough hot days in Scotland to need it for cooling 😆

Renault have maybe answered my dilemma. I'm going off the Scenic and thinking again about another Mégane, and the new Esprit Alpine trim might add the extra edge of fun and style needed when buying the same car again. An all black one perhaps? I'm also a bit annoyed I have to go through all this again after just two years and the 4 year PCP they currently offer on the Mégane looks about as good as a lease financially. Not available to spec in the UK yet though.

I see the new trims are showing up on LeaseLoco even before they're on the Renault site. Silly prices mind, but that will presumably change in time.
